Greatest Celebrity Photoshop Fails of 2020

We know you love to see them, and we do too! So without further ado, here are the greatest celebrity photoshop fails of 2020.

Greatest Celebrity Photoshop Fails of 2020

Celebrities – They’re just like us! Some just pretend to be more perfect than others. Although we can’t blame them for wanting to look their best, considering the whole world’s constantly watching them, when it comes to celebrity photoshop fails, 2020 was a hell of a year. We’ve curated a list of some of the best to remind us that we’re all human, and to help comfort us as we close off this nightmare year.

You’d think, considering all that’s been going on this year, that celebrities would have more important things to do than Facetune the heck out of themselves, but perhaps that served as the distraction they needed to forget the pandemic.

I mean, it certainly distracted me. Is anyone else a little disturbed by the mysterious fingers growing out of the side of Kim Kardashian‘s head in this post from May? They’re creepy, and a little upsetting, but that doesn’t stop this image from being one of my all time favourite celebrity photoshop fails, and it goes at the top of my list for 2020.

Evidence of photoshop, or of the fact that Kim K is actually an alien reptilian being? You decide.

Kim K photoshopping her pictures is nothing new, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything on her feed that wasn’t enhanced in one way or another, like this selfie of her and Blac Chyna in which, fans noticed, the tiles in the background are looking suspiciously wavy.

So, considering we’d be here all day if we were to analyse all of Kim’s pictures, lets move swiftly along to another time celebrities tried to hoodwink us.

It seems it runs in the family, though, because Khloe Kardashian shook us so much with this next Facetune transformation that we really did forget, for a hot minute, that coronavirus had taken over the world.

Considering the fact that they’ve been on a reality show for most of their adult lives, you’d think they’d keep in mind that the entire world already knows what they actually look like when posting pictures, and not try to fool us with these shenanigans. On top of that, the entire family is gorgeous as they are. The post-photo skin smoothing, lip plumping and teeth whitening seems like something of a waste of time. And yet, we can go on.

We’ll end off the Kardashian, and now Jenner, portion of today’s little rant with this classic, celebrity photoshop fail, and one of monumental proportions: Kylie Jenner‘s wavy pool.

I refuse to believe that the edge of her pool was designed like that.

Like her sisters, we could write a book about her editing mishaps alone. But quite frankly, we live for them. There was a time when I would have been offended by the fact that the Kardashian-Jenner clan seemed to assume their entire audience was too dumb to notice things like this. Now, however, I’m rather impressed by the fact that they boldly continue to do these things despite them knowing that we know that they’re doing them.

Ok, now that we’ve covered the queens of celebrity photoshop fails, let’s move swiftly along to a woman Holly Hammond at Betches has coined “the First Lady of Photoshop Fails”. Let’s keep talking about pools though, because they seem to enjoy exposing people and we love it.

In February 2020, Ivanka Trump posted this image of her in front of the Taj Mahal. If you don’t know what this scene looks like without her in it, it might be easy to miss the fact that she’s actually changed the architecture of the pool behind her. Perhaps her gravitational pull really is strong enough to melt away the structure of the constructions around her, but until I see scientific evidence of this, I’m calling shenanigans!

Backgrounds are often a dead giveaway when it comes to editing. Another celebrity photoshop flop that deserves place in the 2020 hall of fame goes to Bella Hadid. Although in this case we appreciate the fact that her editing attempt was less about making herself look perfect, and more about adding a little foliage to her surroundings.

Bella clearly didn’t think much of the background of her image, and decided to plonk a photo of a shrub on it and just leave it at that. She’s a busy girl. I kind of get it. I admire the audacity with which she decided to post this particular work of art onto her feed almost as much as I admire the fact that she left it there after everyone noticed and started pointing it out. I have no qualms about celebrities making the background of their images prettier. Or leafier.

What I do have issues with is influencers who alter their physiques so much – squishing their waists so small that they couldn’t possibly survive without life support, having clearly removed all their internal organs – and leading young, impressionable followers to believe that that’s what they too should aspire to look like.

Gina Savage has 1.3 million followers on Instagram, and then goes ahead and does things like this:

If you can’t see what I’m talking about from this example, let me demonstrate further why, unless Miss Savage is in grave danger on account of missing half her ribs as well as her colon, stomach and liver, her entire feed goes on my list of epic photoshop fails for 2020.

I think, if we’re picking a photoshop fail winner for 2020, she and Kim K might have to share the crown – but Bella Hadid still get’s special mention for her shrubbery.

It’s worth noting that every single one of these women is beautiful, and hardly needs to be throwing filters and smooth tools around like they’re going out of fashion.

The pressures that come with social media are so much greater when you’re in the spotlight that it must do some serious damage to one’s self esteem. The problem is that its not only their self esteem that’s being damaged, as they’re perpetuating these false narratives of beauty – and that has far-reaching consequences. Nevertheless, there’s something so comforting in being reminded that even people who seem perfect, and like they have their lives together, struggle with the same insecurities as the rest of us.

As we wrap up this awful year with the shadow of the pandemic still looking above us, we thought you might need some proof that nobody’s perfect, no matter how hard they pretend, and there’s no reason to be. We’ve all got enough on our plates as it is.

Isn’t that liberating?
