We’re constantly being inundated with instagram stories about people’s lives – but how many of those stories really grab your attention? We scoured the web to find some of the most creative (yet simple!) ways to make your instagram story stand out from the rest – even if you’re still only posting about your morning cup of coffee.
Step 1: Get to know the Instagram story features
This may sound obvious, but you’ll get the best engagement from your stories if you’re utilising the tools that Instagram offers. Include interactive elements to get your followers involved, place text and stickers in a user-friendly and legible way, and play around with the pen tool.
One of the lesser known instagram story hacks is turning your live photos into boomerangs if they’ve been taken in the last 24 hours.
Did you know: you can create a completely opaque background by selecting a colour in the pen tool and holding your finger on the screen, or a transparant background by doing the same with the highlighter tool.
Double did you know: You can make your text a gradient of multiple colours with a bit of practice and coordination. Type out a word and highlighting it. Then select and hold one of the colours in the colour picker, and also the highlighter on one end of your text. Move the highlighted portion of your text slowly, while simultaneously sliding your finger on the colour picker to change one letter at a time. Make sure to leave the last letter selected or your text will switch to being one colour again!
Turn your live photos into Boomerangs
Simply open instagram stories and swipe up to add images from your gallery. Once you’ve selected your image, hold your finger on the screen until you see the word “boomerang” appear, and voila!
