United States president Donald Trump has doubled down on his claim that the 2020 Presidential election was rigged by firing a top election official who has contradicted his claims.
Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (Cisa) chief Chris Krebs previously said that the 2020 election was “the most secure in US history” and Trump has labelled his remarks as “highly inaccurate”.
The recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the 2020 Election was highly inaccurate, in that there were massive improprieties and fraud - including dead people voting, Poll Watchers not allowed into polling locations, “glitches” in the voting machines which changed…

Like many people before him, Krebs first heard about the news of his dismissal via Twitter on Tuesday.

This follows an earlier statement from Krebs, stating that “59 election security experts all agree, ‘in every case of which we are aware, these claims either have been unsubstantiated or are technically incoherent.’ #Protect2020”
Krebs also retweeted a separate statement from another election official saying, “Please don’t retweet wild and baseless claims about voting machines, even if they’re made by the president.”
However, Krebs appeared to have no regrets over President Trump’s latest move to remove officials whose loyalty to him has come under question.
Honored to serve. We did it right. Defend Today, Secure Tomrorow. #Protect2020

Krebs is just the latest official to be shown the door at the White House, following President Trump’s dismissal of Defense Secretary Mark Esper, whose loyalty to Trump was also under question, while CIA director Gina Haspel and FBI director Christopher Wray are also rumoured to be on their way out.
A spokesperson for President-elect Joe Biden expressed regret over Krebs’ dismissal.
“Chris Krebs should be commended for his service in protecting our elections, not fired for telling the truth,” the statement read.
