Trump De-escalates & Imposes Sanctions On Iran

In response to the Iranian missile launch that hit two US bases in Iraq in the early hours of Wednesday, President Trump gave an address from The White House that appears to be a move to de-escalate any further military action.

After greeting the American people, Trump began by confirming that no American casualties where sustained during the ballistic missile attack carried out on US bases in Iraq, while damage to property was minimal.

“No Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime,” Trump told the press. “We suffered no casualties. All of our soldiers are safe and only minimal damage was sustained at our military bases.”

Trump went on to say that he would be imposing harsher economic sanctions on Iran until the country “changes its behaviour”.

“As we continue to evaluate our options in response to Iranian aggression, the United States will immediately impose additional punishing economic sanctions on the Iranian regime. These powerful sanctions will remain until Iran changes its behaviour.”

He then asserted that he was trying to avoid any further military conflict, and that he was only using America’s military and economic power to serve as a deterrent.

“The fact that we have all of this great military equipment, however, does not mean we have to use it”, he concluded. “We do not want to use it. American strength, both military and economic, is the best deterrent.”
