ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule has dismissed claims that a report on his impending arrest is fake news. He claims that the Hawks will be making a “Hollywood-style” arrest and that he will be charged over his role in the controversial Vrede Dairy Farm project.
On Tuesday, an IOL report, where Magashule went on record, confirmed that he is aware that his name appears on a list of people allegedly earmarked for arrest by the NPA.
“I’m aware. I said its going to be a Hollywood style type (of) arrest. They shouldn’t spin it now,“ Magashule said. “I’m aware. I’m aware. It’s going to be a Hollywood-style type of thing. But we will see.”
Magashule will be charged over his alleged ’’failure to exercise oversight’’ in the project. Furthermore, IOL reported today that sources from within the Hawks “have confirmed that Magashule was part of the list of people who are set to be arrested this month.”
“I will address media at an appropriate time” Magashule said, while the Hawks issued an official statement on Magashule’s potential arrest.
“The Hawks would like to categorically distance itself from the IOL report regarding the so called Impending arrest against Mr Ace Magashule,“ said Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.
The former Free State Premier has a long list of accusations over corruption that have been levelled at him throughout his career and is well known for his brazen attitude in rebuffing accusations.
This follows what appears to be a massive mobilisation on behalf of the ANC and President Cyril Ramaphosa to end the culture of corruption which has undermined its credibility as the ruling party in South Africa
