Boko Haram Execute Christian Leader & 36 Die In Burkina Faso Terrorist Attack

A Nigerian reverend has been executed by the terrorist group, Boko Haram, while 36 people were killed in the central-northern province of Sanmatenga on Monday evening.

Reverend Lawan Andimi was abduct by alleged Islamic terrorists in Michika, Nigeria on 2 January and, now, President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned his murder as a provocative action, as reported by BBC.

The chair of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had earlier appeared in a hostage video. This follows a similar video capture by Islamic jihadists where they allegedly murdered 11 Christians in December.

Elsewhere, in Burkina Faso, President Roch Marc Christian Kabore has called for two days of mourning after 32 people were killed in the village of Nagraogo on Monday evening and another four met the same fate just outside of Alamou.

“The Burkina government has learned with consternation and anger of the deaths of 36 Burkinabe in Sanmatenga province, after a terrorist attack,” communications minister Remis Fulgance Dandjinou told France24. A two-day mourning period on Wednesday and Thursday, where flags will be raised at half-mast and festivals will be suspended, was also announced.

While it’s not clear who carried out the attacks, Burkina Faso has experienced an increasing number of deadly attacks at the hands of Islamist militants. It has become such an issue in West African state that a volunteer plan has been passed in its parliament.

The plan, comparable to French resistance to Nazi Germany, will see volunteers receive military training for 14 days and later be deployed to fight militants.
